- 1 cup wheat berries
- 1/4 cup rice
- 1/2 cup mixed dried fruits (figs, apricots, raisins)
- 1/4 cup chopped almonds
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
- 2 tablespoons pomegranate seeds (for garnish)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 5 cups water (for cooking)
Instructions
- 1. Rinse wheat berries under cold water until clear. Soak overnight in enough water to cover.
- 2. Drain soaked wheat berries, combine with 5 cups of fresh water in a large pot, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 1 hour until tender.
- 3. Stir in rice and cook on low heat for an additional 20-25 minutes until soft.
- 4. Mix in dried fruits and cinnamon; stir gently for another 5 minutes.
- 5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving in bowls.
- 6. Garnish each bowl with pomegranate seeds and chopped nuts.
