Description

  • 1 cup almond flour (100g)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (240g)
  • 3 large egg whites (90g)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (50g)
  • Gel food coloring (as desired)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (113g)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (60ml)

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. 2. In a clean bowl, whip egg whites and granulated sugar until stiff peaks form. Gradually add food coloring to achieve desired shade.
  3. 3. In a separate bowl, sift together almond flour and powdered sugar. Gently fold this mixture into the meringue until combined.
  4. 4. Pipe heart shapes onto prepared baking sheets and let rest for 30 minutes until they form a skin.
  5. 5. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until shells lift easily from parchment paper. Allow to cool completely before filling with vanilla buttercream.
