- 1 cup almond flour (100g)
- 2 cups powdered sugar (240g)
- 3 large egg whites (90g)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (50g)
- Gel food coloring (as desired)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (113g)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup heavy cream (60ml)
Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- 2. In a clean bowl, whip egg whites and granulated sugar until stiff peaks form. Gradually add food coloring to achieve desired shade.
- 3. In a separate bowl, sift together almond flour and powdered sugar. Gently fold this mixture into the meringue until combined.
- 4. Pipe heart shapes onto prepared baking sheets and let rest for 30 minutes until they form a skin.
- 5. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until shells lift easily from parchment paper. Allow to cool completely before filling with vanilla buttercream.
