Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine whole milk and heavy cream over medium heat until just heated (do not boil).
- In a small bowl, whisk together sugar and cornstarch. Gradually add this mixture to the heated milk while stirring constantly.
- Cook over medium heat until it thickens slightly (about 5-7 minutes), coating the back of a spoon.
- Remove from heat, stir in vanilla extract, and allow to cool before transferring to a shallow dish.
- Cover with plastic wrap touching the surface and freeze for at least four hours or until solid.
