- 2 medium sweet yellow onions, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
- ½ cup beef broth
- 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil for sautéing
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, then sauté chopped onions for about 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, sautéed onions (cooled), minced garlic, eggs, breadcrumbs, thyme, oregano, salt, and pepper until just combined.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf in the prepared pan.
- Bake for about 60 minutes or until an internal temperature of 160°F is reached. During the last few minutes of baking, sprinkle Swiss cheese on top and return it to the oven until melted.
