- 1 lb ground meat (50% lamb, 50% beef)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp ground coriander
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup high-quality tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, cilantro, cumin, coriander, and egg until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into uniform balls about one inch in diameter.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides for about five minutes; remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, combine tomato sauce and chicken broth. Stir in additional cumin and cinnamon; let simmer for a few minutes.
- Return the browned meatballs to the skillet and let them simmer in the sauce on low heat for about 20 minutes.
