  • 4 medium Onions sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Butter or olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar optional, to enhance sweetness

Method
 

  1. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced onions and salt, stirring to coat.
  3. Cook onions for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and caramelized.
  4. If desired, add sugar during the last few minutes of cooking.
