Cooking the Lentils and Rice
- Rinse the lentils and rice under cold water.
- In a pot, combine lentils and water, bring to a boil, then simmer for 15 minutes.
- Add rice, cumin, salt, and pepper to the pot, stir well, and cover.
- Cook on low heat for another 20 minutes or until rice is tender.
Caramelizing the Onions
- In a pan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add sliced onions and cook until golden brown and caramelized, stirring occasionally.
Serving
- Serve the lentils and rice topped with caramelized onions.
