The Daisy Fields Blanket: Free No-Sew Chunky Crochet Pattern
There’s nothing quite like the cheerful pop of a daisy to brighten up a room. The Daisy Fields Blanket combines the vintage charm of granny squares with modern, ultra-plush chunky yarn to create a cozy masterpiece. Whether you’re draping it over a nursery crib, styling it on your living room sofa, or making a heartfelt gift, this blanket brings sunshine indoors.
The best part? This pattern features a brilliant join-as-you-go method, which means absolutely no sewing squares together at the end! By using thick chenille yarn, each large daisy square works up in minutes, making this a surprisingly fast weekend project for crocheters of all levels.

Materials You’ll Need

- Hook: 10.0 mm (N/P) ergonomic wooden crochet hook.
- Notions: A large-eye tapestry needle, vintage brass scissors, and a few stitch markers.

The Daisy Square Pattern
Round 1 (Center): With Mustard Yellow, make a MR. Ch 2 (does not count as st), work 12 dc into the ring. Sl st to the first dc to join. Fasten off yellow. (12 sts)
Round 2 (Petals): Attach Soft White to any st. Ch 2, *work 1 puff stitch in the same st, ch 1, work 1 puff stitch in the next st, ch 1; repeat from * around. Sl st to the top of the first puff. Fasten off white. (12 puff petals)
Round 3 (Squaring off): Attach your Background Color to any ch-1 space. Ch 3 (counts as a dc). In the same space, work (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) to create the first corner. *In the next ch-1 space, work 3 hdc. In the next ch-1 space, work 3 hdc. In the next ch-1 space, work (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) for the next corner. Repeat from * twice more. In the next two spaces, work 3 hdc. Sl st to the top of the initial ch-3. Fasten off.
The Join-As-You-Go Method (JAYG)
Make your first square completely following Rounds 1-3. For all subsequent squares, work Rounds 1 and 2 normally. On Round 3, when you reach a side that needs to connect to an existing square, replace the ch-2 in the corners with (ch 1, sl st into the adjacent square’s corner, ch 1). Along the straight edges, work a sl st into the adjacent square’s spaces between your hdc clusters. This secures the squares together as you crochet, entirely eliminating the need for a yarn needle later!
Finishing and Weaving In Ends
Once all 30 squares are joined, attach your Background Color to any outer corner space. Work a simple border of 1 sc in every stitch and space around the entire blanket, putting 3 sc in each corner. Sl st to join and fasten off. Weave in all loose ends securely on the back side of the blanket.

Care Instructions
Chunky chenille yarn is incredibly soft but requires gentle care. Wash your Daisy Fields Blanket on a cold, delicate cycle in a large capacity washing machine. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. To maintain the plush texture of the daisy puff stitches, lay the blanket flat to air dry. Never put chenille yarn in a hot dryer, as it will lose its softness and may melt.
